Choose the Comforts You Will Notice on the Way
A weekend drive can be part of the getaway, whether you are heading along the Mississippi or visiting somewhere you have wanted to see for a while. The features you enjoy along the way deserve a place in your used Edge search.
Start with the things you notice from your seat. The right adjustment, a preferred cabin temperature or a convenience you use at every stop can matter more than a long equipment list you barely touch.
Give Both Front Seats Attention
If it is usually the two of you, both front seats should have time in the comparison. A passenger can have different priorities from the driver, especially on a longer trip. Sit in each position you expect to use and notice support, adjustment and where the controls fall.
The passenger-seat adjustment is one detail worth comparing by year. A 2020 Edge SEL includes a six-way power passenger seat with manual recline. A 2024 SEL has a four-way power passenger seat with manual recline, along with an eight-way power driver seat. Both SEL examples include heated front seats. Try the actual adjustments and decide what makes the seat work for you.
Seat materials can catch your eye in a listing, but the way the seat fits you deserves its own decision. A feature description gives you something to look for; spending time in the seat tells you whether you want it.
Separate Heated Seats From Other Comforts
Heated seats, a heated steering wheel and cooled seats are different features. Look for the one you actually want rather than assuming one means the others are included.
On a 2020 SEL, the optional Cold Weather Package includes a heated steering wheel. On the 2024 SEL, the heated steering wheel was offered as an individual option. Heated front seats are standard in both examples, so they do not settle the steering-wheel question. On the 2024 ST, equipment group 401A includes cooled front seats and heated rear seats. Those are useful distinctions when two listings sound similarly equipped.
Cabin temperature can also be a simpler starting point. The 2020 Edge SE includes dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control. Try the controls and consider how you prefer to use them instead of judging the cabin only by how high the trim sits in the lineup.
Choose Conveniences You Would Use
Some extras make a repeated task a little easier. A power liftgate may interest you if opening the cargo area is part of nearly every stop. On the 2024 SEL, it is included in the optional Convenience Package. Check the actual vehicle rather than treating it as a feature of every SEL.
The screen and phone interface are worth trying, too. As a 2022 example, the Edge SE includes SYNC 4A with a 12-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Connect your compatible phone while parked and try the functions you use most. Decide whether that interface is something you would seek when comparing years.
For the rear-seat layout and loading side of the trip, our weekend-space guide takes that question further.
Turn Preferences Into an Equipment Shortlist
Choose a few features you would miss if they were absent. Then compare listings around those details. If a less elaborate Edge gives you the seats and controls you like, it deserves attention alongside a car with more options.
Our Internet Manager can help check available original Ford window stickers and the equipment on a specific listing. Bring the questions that matter to you into the conversation, then use the visit to decide which cabin feels right.

Questions Worth Asking
Does a 2024 SEL have a heated steering wheel?
It was optional. Heated front seats were standard on the 2024 SEL, but they do not establish that the steering wheel is heated.
Does every 2024 ST have cooled front seats?
No. Cooled front seats are included in equipment group 401A. Check the equipment group and actual controls on the vehicle.
Can passenger-seat adjustment differ by year?
Yes. The 2020 SEL includes a six-way power passenger seat with manual recline; the 2024 SEL has a four-way power passenger seat with manual recline. Try the adjustment on the actual car.
Should I choose the highest trim to get comfortable?
Start with the features and seat fit you care about. More equipment does not automatically mean a cabin you will prefer.
